The seeds are: Southern, Texas, Florida, and Southwest. Southwest and NorCal flipped a coin for the 4th seed and Southwest called heads, and heads it was.
No seeds play till the quarters, there are 12 teams, so they all got byes.
Round of 16: NorCal vs. Mid Atlantic: NorCal lost. Nichols won beat Joni Hannah in a little over 3 hours...typical Nichols match, 64 26 62. Hannah is unbelievably fast and has great hands. But MATA won the overall match 4-1. Nor Cal lost #2 singles, (Schreck lost to Krasner in 3 sets) and Lisa Dodson from NorCal pulled her hamstring in the 3rd game against Karen Ann Broe at #3 singles. Krasner/Hannah easily won the doubles over Schreck/Haskell, they are a really good doubles team, and we defaulted the #2 doubles. Eastern, New England and Missouri Valley all won.
Quarters. Southwest d. Missouri Valley 4-1; Southern beat Mid-Atlantic 5-0. Texas beat New England and Florida beat Eastern.
Semis: Southern beat Florida 5-0. At #1 singles Karen Hausman and Diane Fishburne had a good match, won 62 76 by Fishburne, who rallied from 5-2 down in the 2nd to take the set. Both doubles matches were close 2-setters. Texas beat Southwest 5-0. Norris beat Carolyn Lane at #1 singles.
Other results: New England beat Missouri Valley; MidAtlantic beat Eastern (Hannah played another long match, and beat the tenacious Ellen Markowitz in 3 sets.); NorCal beat Midwest 3-2 (NorCal defaulted #2 doubles due to an injury), and Pacific Northwest beat Middle States.
Final: Southern won all 3 singles matches to beat Texas. Fishburne beat Norris 75, 61. Florida beat Southwestern to place third.
