In 2001, the USA won the Perry Cup and finished second in the Italia, Trabert, Dubler and Bueno Cups. Men's 35: The Italia Cup. The team members are: Jeff Greenwald of San Francisco, California; Brett Dickenson of La Jolla, California and Jeff Chambers. The captain is Bill Kellogg of La Jolla, California. USA finished third. They won the round robin portion of their event, beating Mexico 3-0 and Austria 2-1. They then had a bye, lost 2-1 to Great Britain (who won the Cup 2-1 over Germany) and beat France 2-1 to place third.
Men's 40's: The Tony Trabert Cup: The team members are: Val Wilder of Euless, Texas, Mike Fedderly of Palm Desert, California; and Eagen Adams of Bradenton, Florida. The captain is Jim Russell of Belton, SC. The USA are seeded #1 in the Trabert Cup competition, ahead of defending champs, Germany. The Trabert team beat Puerto Rico, had a bye, then beat France 2-0, the French players were too tired and hot to play the doubles. USA beat Mexico and plays Gr. Britain for the Cup Saturday. Mexico and Germany will play for third place.
