2002 Finish: Fourth

USA won the Bueno Cup in 2003, winning their round robin group, then beating South Africa and Austria both by 3-0 scores. In the final, Mary Ginnard won at #2 singles to lead off the USA, and Tina Karwasky beat Maria Geyer for the first time, in 3 sets, to clinch the win. Karwasky and Russo finished the tie with a decisive doubles win. The USA did not drop any individual matches, going 15-0 to regain the Bueno Cup.

Biography of Players:

Russo has been on numerous Cup teams including the Young Cup, Court Cup and Bueno Cup teams. She has won dozens of national titles. Her most recent national titles were the 55 Indoor singles and doubles crowns in May of 2003. She also won the 50 Grass court doubles title and was a singles finalist there in 2002. She was the 4th ranked singles player in the women's 50 division in 2002.

Karwasky has been a dominant player and the top-ranked USA player in singles in the 35's, 40's, 45's and currently, in the 50's. She was also ranked #3 in 45 singles in 2002. She recently won the 50 Hard court singles title in May of 2003 and the 50 Grass court singles title in 2002. She has been a member of numerous Young Cup teams and was a member of the 2000-2001 Court Cup teams. She has 28 gold balls.

Ginnard was a member of the 1999 Court Cup team. She is currently ranked #2 in singles and #1 in doubles in women's 50 and over in the USA. She won the 50 hard court doubles titles in 2002-2003, and the 50 indoor doubles titles in 2002-3, all with Christy Wing, her Bueno Cup teammate. She also won the 50 indoor singles title in 2002.

Wing is playing on her second Cup team, having been a member of the 2001 Court Cup team. She was ranked #3 in singles and #1 in doubles for 2002. She won the 2003 Indoor singles crown in March of 2003 and the 2002 Hard court singles title, along with 4 doubles titles in 2002-3, with Ginnard.
