The Lenglen Cup team finished 2nd in 2002.
Final Result: USA finished 4th, and was seeded 4th. They won their round robin division, then lost to France. Former world #3 Natalie Tauziat played for France and Renata Marcinkowska, the USA #1 had a 3 hour match with her before losing.
Biography of Players: Marcinkowska is the third ranked player in the USA. She has won 3 national singles titles in the past 2 years, the 35 clay courts in 2001-2 and the 35 indoors in 2002, along with the 2001 indoor doubles title. She is playing on a Cup team for the first time. Patterson is the 2nd ranked player in the USA. She won the 35 clay court title this year with Yorke and has won numerous other national titles. She was a member of the Lenglen Cup team in 2002. Hayden is playing on a Cup team for the first time. She is the 5th ranked player in the USA and won the 30 indoor singles and doubles titles in 2002. She and Patterson are ranked #1 in the USA in the 35 doubles currently. Alcini is new to the 35's and is playing on a Cup team for the first time. She has won numerous national 30 and over titles, and has placed 5th at both the clay and indoor 35 and over nationals in 2003. She was ranked 6th in 30 and over singles in 2002 in the USA.
In 2002 the USA Lenglen Cup team finished 2nd in international play against other countries.
